World Lung Day | Lung CancerEvery year, World Lung Day is celebrated on September 25 to spread awareness about lung health. Just like our other parts of body, lungs also age with time and loosen their strength. We always take lungs for granted and neglect about its health. Though smoking remains the main cause of lung cancer, air pollution can also become one of the biggest problems of our time. You need to keep your lungs healthy and strengthen them by tweaking small lifestyle changes:

Cigarette smoking is the major cause of lung cancer and related chronic diseases including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. With period of time, cigarette smoke destroys lung disease and cause changes that grow into cancer. It is never too late to benefit from quitting smoking.

You should follow a healthy diet and exercise on regular basis. These small steps can make permanent life changes and benefit you in long term. You should stay hydrated and drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water every day. Also, you should make sure that the diet is packed with nutrients to keep your respiratory tract healthy.

The outside air quality is unhealthy and affects your health specially lungs. You should limit prolonged exposure to outdoor air pollution. You should avoid your exposure to inhalation of dust, gas and chemicals.

It is vital to have regular check-ups to prevent diseases. They help to catch the problem at an early stage until it becomes serious. Health checkups helps to better understand your condition and your healthcare provider accordingly guides you.

Prevent Infection

Respiratory infections can sometimes become serious and it is vital to follow some healthy habits such as washing your hands with soap and water. You should maintain good hygiene and talk to your healthcare provider to prevent severe illness.
