Silent Symptoms of Lung Cancer – Need for Their Timely Identification

Lung CancerEarly detection of lung cancer plays an important role in improving the survival rates and treatment outcomes. Lung cancer often starts with silent signals that go unnoticed but slowly worsen over the period of time. It is very important for everyone to pay close attention to their bodues and do not miss out even the small changes that could be a signal for something serious.

The disease of lung cancer often starts with silent signals. These may be president cough or unexplained fatigue or may be shortness of breath. These can be symptoms or cannot be. According to the researchers, persistent cough that does not go away or keep on coming back is one of the earliest signs of lung cancer. Regular cough gets worsen over time and does not respond to typical treatments like cough syrup or medicine. This symptom is overlooked assuming it to be due to cold or allergy or smoking. Shortness of breath and frequent wheezing are also early signs of lung cancer. Lung cancer often blocks or narrows the airways and thus, shortness of breath symptoms should never be ignored.

Another silent symptom of lung cancer is persistent chest pain. This ache can be a dull ache or sharp and stabbing pain. This happens because lung tumor compresses the chest wall or nerves. One common and most frequently ignored sign of lung cancer is unexplained fatigue. This fatigue is often overlooked as it is not thought to be a symptom of lung cancer. Chronic fatigue is an active symptom especially if it is accompanied with other symptoms. Unexplained weight loss is also a silent symptom. In this case, the body begins to generate more energy to combat developing lung cancer. The symptoms of lung cancer are easily ignored but is essential to catch these silent signs so as to increase survival rates.
