Smoking is undoubtedly the main cause of lung cancer among men and women. Cigarette smoking is linked to a number of health issues ranging from heart disease to skin aging and of course, lung cancer. In addition to lung cancer, smoking is also linked to breast, prostate, oral and rectal cancers.
Though smokers try to quit smoking numerous times but they face difficulties as smoking is addictive physically as well as psychologically. So, this Lung Cancer Awareness month, quit smoking and here are some of the useful tips:
- Make a list of all the reasons for which you want to quit smoking.
- Review those reasons as much as you can.
- Take help of your friends and family members to keep on track.
- Celebrate your small achievements like one month smoke-free.
- Look for some healthy alternatives and satisfy that carving by chewing gum or may be hard candy.
- Keep yourself busy with other tasks or develop new hobbies.
- If you smoke again, quit again!
Quitting is a process and can be achieved after some attempts. It may take some weeks to make breathing easier and in the long run, it is a rewarding experience.

One may experience an increased risk of lung cancer when exposed to radon, asbestos or other cancer-causing agents. When you have a family history of the disease, it is more likely to get affected by lung cancer.
