Is Lung Cancer Curable?Can lung cancer be cured? Is lung cancer curable if detected early? Is lung cancer treatable at any stage? Can surgery or chemotherapy cure it?

These are some of the questions that come in mind when we talk about treatment of lung cancer. The answer whether lung cancer is curable or not requires a careful explanation. Whether the lung cancer is curable or not, the answer depends on how one defines cure. Long-term survival with lung cancer is possible when the disease is caught at an early stage. There have been various cases where people survive many years even with stage 4 lung cancer. Lung cancer cure requires not only treatment methods but also motivation and willingness on the part of patients. The patients need to be mentally and physically strong to overcome the side effects of lung cancer. Lung cancer is almost always treatable with various newer treatment options available.

Can Lung Cancer Be Cured With Surgery?

Surgery offers one of the best chances for long-term survival from lung cancer especially when it is done at an early stage. In cases where the lung cancer has not spread to lymph nodes or blood vessels, doctors may use the term cure. Surgery may be performed for non-small cell lung cancer patients with stage1, stage 2 and stage 3A.

Is Lung Cancer Curable With Chemotherapy?

Chemotherapy includes the use of special medicines to shrink lung cancer. It may be used as adjuvant therapy or as a palliative therapy. Chemotherapy is given as an additional treatment when the cancer cells have spread to other regions of the body. It is also used to reduce the symptoms associated with lung cancer. Chemotherapy plays a pivotal role in treating lung cancer.

Can Immunotherapy Cure Lung Cancer?

Immunotherapy utilizes patient’s own immune system to destroy cancer cells. It helps to boost immune cells and help them to eliminate cancer. It enhances the immune response of patients. This treatment can also be used in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation or targeted therapies to improve their survival rates.

Is Lung Cancer Curable With Radiation Therapy?

Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to kill lung cancer. Radiation therapy is often used in addition to traditional lung cancer treatment such as chemotherapy to reduce the chances of reoccurrence. The therapy reduces the symptoms of lung cancer such as bone pain.

Can Targeted Therapy Drugs Be Used To Cure Lung Cancer?

Targeted therapy drugs include erlotinib, gefitinib, afatinib, crizotinib, ceritinib, alectinib, and bevaxizumab. They work by blocking a specific kind of receptor on cell surface called EGFR. They attack the lung cancer cells and stop cancer from growing them.

Can Ayurvedic Drugs Cure Lung Cancer?

Though there have been many studies going on for use of ayurvedic drugs in lung cancer treatment, but studies fail to show survival benefit. Some of the products help with symptoms associated with lung cancer and its treatments. They help one to recover easily.

Can Diet Help To Cure Lung Cancer?

Healthy foods and diet also play an important role in cure of lung cancer. In addition to the treatment method, consuming right food is very crucial for the effectiveness of treatment. If one keeps on consuming saturated fats, alcohol and more oily foods, it becomes difficult to get over this deadly disease.

Can Exercise Cure Lung Cancer?

For lung cancer patients, exercise is important for them to stay healthy. Breathing exercising helps to reduce stress and anxiety among the patients. They also work to show a significant improvement in the lung function.

Research work is continuously going on to improve the survival rates among the patients. Lung cancer is curable and at the same time, early detection is also useful.
