Celery Helps To Fight the Risk of Lung Cancer

In recent study, it was found that celery killed up to 86% of cancer cells in the lungs. Isn’t that figures exciting?

Celery and Lung Cancer

Celery is a nutritious and low-calorie food and is mostly water. It helps to calm our nervous system, reduce inflammation and aid digestion as well. In addition to these qualities, celery contains anti-cancer compounds called as Apigenin and Lutelion. These are effective in killing numerous types of cancer cells. They are bioactive flavonoids and fight cancer cells. They have the capability to combat free radicals in the body. While apigenin fights cancer cells by inducing apoptosis, luteolin works to short circuit the replication cycle of cancer cells. Apigenin is traditionally used in Chinese Medicine to treat arthritic conditions.

Other Health Benefits

Researchers have found that eating just two medium-size celery two-three times a week can reduce the risk of developing lung cancer by 60%. Also, women consuming lots of apigenin in their food are more likely to reduce the risk of breast cancer. It remains yet unclear whether apigenin in celery works alone or together with another compound.

Include Celery in your Diet

Undoubtedly, Celery is one of the healthiest foods. There are a good number of reasons to add celery in your daily diet. It prevents cancer growth, an extraordinary source of fiber and is a great antioxidant. You should include this in your diet. You can add it to soups, vegetable smoothies, salads and more. Consuming organic celery can work wonders in reducing the risk of cancer.
