Elli Grave told me about Deanna’s Lung Cancer and fundraising campaign on Lung Cancer Blog Facebook page; the below is Deanna’s story as Elli Grave wrote on Facebook Messager:
Susans mum has lung cancer. She is caring for her mum as she battles this awful disease. It’s not something that anyone wants to go through. The days are endless; the treatments are long and tiring. Deanna struggles every day. Every day she struggles to breathe. For many they describe lung cancer as feeling like your slowly suffocating. This is Deanna’s life. And now the bank is going to take away her home. The home she feels safe in, the home she feels happy and where her children are. I’m sorry but that’s not right. We desperately need your help to ensure that this does not happen, please. Please help us to save Deanna’s home. Let her live in peace and comfort during this difficult time.
This is not much to ask surely that someone at this time in their life is able to live their days in relative peace and contentment. Isn’t this a right of every person? We would like to make this journey as peaceful as possible and be able to provide Deanna with the necessities to be able to live as normal a life as is possible in the time she has.
If we can save her home, we would like Deanna to be able to have access to fresh air and feel the warmth of the sun on her body. Deanna can’t get downstairs to go outside as she just does not have the breath to be able to do even this. So one thing we would like to do is put a chairlift in to enable her to have access to outside.
She is also unable to shower as her current shower is too small. Deanna cannot stand for any length of time unaided so we need to install a shower where she is able to sit down.
We would also like to be able to take Deanna for walks, to just get outside and see the world. Obviously Deanna is unable to walk so we would love to get a wheelchair for her so she has the ability to have access to the outside world.
Deanna and Susan are the most incredibly loving people you could ever hope to meet. They have always been there for everyone else, and both of them have been through unimaginable tragedies in their lives.
Please, Deanna’s friends are desperate to help. First we need to make sure that we can save Deanna’s home. I know that if we all work together we can do this. With your help, we can make a difference to Deanna’s life. I want to make things a bit easier for Deanna to be able to do the things we all take for granted in our daily lives and remain in her home.

Thank you so much for your help. We just want to help make this time one that is comfortable and enables Deanna to be able to at least enjoy some of the things most people take for granted, such as fresh air or a shower. But perhaps more URGENTLY WE NEED TO TRY AND SAVE HER HOME.
We don’t know exactly how long Deanna has but, it’s not right that someone in her condition and at this stage in her illness is left homeless. Deanna is very sick and very rarely able to get out of bed now.
We are desperate to help her, so thank you so very much for helping.
