Cancer is mainly caused by asbestos or smoking cigarette, but you don’t know that red meat or processed meat can also cause cancer. According to International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) – cancer agency of the World Health Organization (WHO) all red or processed meats like hot dogs, bacon etc. are cancer causing substances.
The organization recently headed a research which engaged over 20 scientists, the main goal of this research was to determine the link of red and processed meat with different kind of cancers. For this scientists looked over 800 studies for a week from different countries such as Japan, America, Australia etc.
Red meats are beef, lamb, pork and goat meat while processed meats sausage hot dogs, bacon, ham, some deli meats. If you are non-vegetarian and love to eat meat then avoid above said meats to be taken as they all contain cancer causing substances like asbestos or smoking cigarette.
In comparison to processed meat, red meat has less risk but this difference is slightly. The scientists observe that taking 50 grams of meat (which is equivalent to 4 stripes of bacon or 1 hot dog) every day can increase the risk of cancer by 18%.
Not only to take processed meat produced cancer, but cooking and heating processed meat boost their carcinogenic properties. Every time you grill, fry or barbecue your processed meat increases its cancer substances. Reheating processed meat is more dangerous.
In American Cancer Society diet chart they limit the take or red and processed meat and increase the vegetables, fruits and whole grains. You can also choose poultry, fish or beans instant of red and processed meat in your meal.
There are many veggie and other meats which give you taste and also health vitamins, you can choose them to include you meal not that red or processed meat.
