Mechlorethamine Hydrochloride is a type of chemotherapy and is used to treat lung cancer. The brand name is Mustargen. It is approved to treat cancer associated with effusion. Effusion occurs when excess fluid builds up in the space between membranes that line body organs. This medication is available as an injection and is given into a vein or directly into a body cavity. The dosage and schedule are determined by person’s size and type of cancer. It is used for lung cancer treatment.

Other Uses

In addition to lung cancer, it is used in the treatment of certain types of other cancers like the cancer that begins in a type of white blood cell that normally fights injection. The medication may be prescribed for other uses. You should ask your pharmacist for more information.

The common side effects include weakness and dizziness. It may cause nausea and vomiting. Women should not get pregnant while intake of this drug. The white blood cell count may drop, putting you at a greater risk of getting an injection. In some cases, patients may experience ringing in the ears or diminished hearing.

Precautions to be taken

You should tell your doctor if you are allergic to Mechlorethamine or any other medications.
