Causes of Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer

Lung | Lung CancerAdenocarcinoma is a type of cancer that forms in the glands of body that secrete mucus and it can happen in many different organs including lung, breast, colon etc. Adenocarcinoma is the most common form of lung cancer and accounts for about 40% of all lung cancer cases. It is a type of non-small cell lung cancer and usually begins in the outer edges of the lungs and the lining of the bronchi. Depending on the stage, it can be a serious illness.

As far as the causes of Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer are concerned, tobacco remains the foremost reason. As there are numerous carcinogens present in the tobacco smoke, primary or secondary exposure leads to lung cancer risk. The other risk factors include family history of lung cancer or occupational exposure to agents like radon, heavy metals, asbestos and other chemicals. Additionally, prior radiation therapy in the chest area and beta carotene supplements also form other lung cancer risk factors. Here, it is vital to note that these risk factors does not necessarily lead to lung cancer. Also, one may develop lung cancer even without having any of these risk factors.

It is vital to make an appointment with your doctor when you see any of the symptoms of Adenocarcinoma Lung cancer. Some of these include cough that does not go away, pain in chest, coughing up blood, shortness of breath etc. Though there are treatment options available but it is vital to quit smoking first. If you are a smoker and have not been able to quit, it is important to see healthcare professional. They recommend strategies that help you to quit smoking. These may include counselling, medicines etc.
