Even for normal people too much rest is not good, then when a patient suffers from serious disease like lung cancer take too much rest, it can lead to muscle weakness, loss of body function, and reduced range of motion. So, today many lung cancer physicians advice their patients to be as physically active as much as possible during cancer treatment. Even many lung cancer sufferers learn about how to being physically active after the treatment.

Exercise/Physical Activity Benefit for Cancer Patients:

Improved Patients Appetite: Malnutrition and dehydration are the common issues among lung cancer patients. Treatments like radiation, chemotherapy and pain drugs can often cause bad appetite, which can quickly lead to malnutrition and dehydration. Without proper nutritional value and moisture, the body is incapable to fight with such a deadly disease. Due to this, lung cancer symptoms and lung cancer treatment side effects can become more intense. Regular physical activity or exercise can considerably improve appetite, which mostly reduces the risks of malnutrition.

Reduced Chance of Depressive Disorders and Anxiety among Patients: Depressive disorders and anxiety are common among lung cancer sufferers. Work out can help reduce the signs of these conditions by promoting the discharge of hormones in the mind. Such substances boost feelings and provide a soothing effect on both the body and mind. Work out also enhances signs of depression by increasing self-confidence and allow sufferers to take control and play an active role in their own treatment and restoration to normal life.

Regular exercises can help keep one’s whole body in better working condition by regulating hypertension, relieving pain and improving muscle, bone and joint function. These advantages will improve the chances of remission as well as decrease the risk of other illnesses.

Regular Exercise during Lung Cancer Treatment:

  • Make you less dependent on others with normal activities of daily living.
  • Lower the risk of heart disease.
  • Improve blood flow to your legs and lower the risk of blood clots.
  • Improved ability to keep social contacts.
  • Improved quality of life.
  • Lower the risk of being anxious and depressed.

  • Improve balance, lower risk of falls and broken bones.

Exercise Options for Lung Cancer Patients:

Not all exercises are recommended for all lung cancer patients, but many get benefit from exercise in some way. For this reason, here low-impact exercises are suggested:

  • Walking
  • Biking
  • Tennis
  • Swimming.
  • Pilates
  • Yoga
  • Weight training

Do these exercises thirty minutes, three-four times in a day is more to get better quality of life. These exercises can improve energy, boost self-confidence, and improve overall health. Before starting any exercise schedule, even if for those who were actually effective before a lung cancer diagnosis, it’s important to talk with your physician. If he advice only then start these exercises.
