Curcuma Longa (Curcumin)Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of death among men and women. While cigarette smoking and passive smoking are leading causes of lung cancer, other factors like high levels of radiation, pollution etc. may also account for lung cancer. Today, we are discussing about the safe, natural herb that could work for lung cancer called Curcuma Longa (Curcumin). Here are the details about ayurveda for lung cancer.

Curumin and Lung Cancer

Over the past years, numerous studies have stressed on the benefits of Curcumin and its anti-cancerous preventative properties. Curcumin is a chemical found in turmeric that can protect the body from free radicals and destroy cancer cells. It helps to prevent the cancer cells from spreading throughout the body and causing damage. In case the cancer cells have already been proliferated, this curcumin works to inhibit the ability of mass of cells so that they don’t adhere to each other.

Studies have found that curcumin had anti-tumor effects and could prevent the migration of lung cancer cells.  Curcumin also helps to improve the functioning of liver and inhibits protein synthesis. This protein synthesis is instrumental in forming tumors. The regular use of turmeric in laboratory studies has found that it can prevent the activation of regulatory molecule called NF-kappaB. These modules promote cancer cell growth. One study has found that curcumin inhibited cancer-causing enzymes to form in rodents.

Dosage

Curcumin is usually available as capsules that contain turmeric powder. The dosage depends on the type of turmeric being taken. It also depends on the type of cancer you have and general health conditions. You should consult with your doctor for the dosage of ayurvedic medicines for lung cancer.

Precautions

Though foods containing turmeric are safe for everyone to consume, the lung cancer patients should consult their doctor before taking any herbal supplements.

Even there is no research evidence to show that turmeric or curcumin can prevent cancer, but the early trials have shown promising results.
