Doxorubicin HydrochlorideDoxorubicin Hydrochloride is a useful drug that is used in the treatment of various cancers such as breast, ovarian, bladder, lung, and thyroid and stomach cancers. Today, we are focusing on the role of this drug is the treatment of Small Cell Lung Cancer. SCLC accounts for about 10% to 15% of lung cancers. It is required to be treated differently from non-small cell lung cancer. Doxorubicin Hydrochloride is approved to be used alone or in combination with other drugs to treat SCLC.

Doxorubicin Hydrochloride is an antibiotic and belongs to a class of medications called anthracycline antibiotics. The drug is given in the form of an injection into a vein and each injection takes several minutes. The treatment duration depends on a number of factors such as the type of cancer, the severity of cancer, other drugs patient is taking and more. It also depends on how the patient’s body reacts to the medications. The dosage and schedule of the drug is appropriately recommended by your health care specialist.

In addition to small cell lung cancer treatment, Doxorubicin Hydrochloride is also used in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, neuroblastoma, wilms tumor, Hodgkin lymphoma, breast cancer, ovarian cancer and more. It is also being studied for the treatment of other types of cancers as well.
