Recently, we are discussing about the increasing use of Chinese herbs in the lung cancer treatment. Another useful herb is the Oldenlandia Diffusa which is extensively used in modern Chinese practice. It is used for treating for a variety of conditions including cancer and viral infections like hepatitis. It has immune-modulating activity and works to kill tumor cells. The herb inhibits the growth of cancer cells and kills them by causing programmed cell death. It stimulates the immune system by destroying tumor cells.
Destructing Cancer Cells
Oldenlandia Diffusa is called as snake-needle grass in US. One study has found that it prevents inflammation by reducing the production of cancer compounds: interleukin-6, and prostaglandin-2. In terms of taste, it is slightly bitter, slight sweet and slightly cold in nature. The regular dosage is 15 to 30 grams. This Chinese herb works to promote self-destruction of cancer cells and increases the immune system ability to destroy tumors. It extracts effectively inhibited the growth of cancer cells and exhibits minimum toxic effects on normal cells.
Other Uses
In addition to treating lung cancer, it is also said to treat hepatitis, snakebites, and arthritis and liver cancers. It enhances the activities of natural killer cells and promotes the proliferation of spleen cells.
Side effects
The Oldenlandia Diffusa rarely comes with any side effects. It may cause difficulty in breathing or rash and intense itching. As the research on Chinese herbs has been limited, the complete potential side effects are unknown including medication interactions. So, it is always recommended to consult your practitioner before using this herb along with your lung cancer treatment. If you are pregnant or have kidney or liver disease, you should talk to your doctor before using this supplement.
