Non-smokers are also getting trapped in the vicious cycle of lung cancer. The rising pollution levels are making the air unbreathable and are silently damaging the lungs as well. Delhi’s severe air pollution is a rising risk of lung cancer.

Rising Cases Among Women and Younger People

The rising air pollution levels in Delhi causing non-smokers to being diagnosed with lung cancer. This evolving trend reflects the role of environmental factors. The recent diagnoses in hospitals across the capital city reveal that an increasing number of patients with no history of smoking or tobacco. The latest data reveals that there’s been a rise in lung cancer among women and younger populations.

Air pollution can penetrate deep into the lungs and trigger mutations that may eventually lead to cancer. The 30-year pattern of lung cancer in Delhi has shown dramatic reversal from heavy smokers’ disease to being dominated by non-smokers. Doctors have issued warnings that unless air pollution is tackled urgently, the Delhi residents may continue to face risks that go beyond control.
