Lung Cancer TreatmentLung cancer is one of the most deadly disease and is responsible for many deaths each year. There are two major types of lung cancer: small cell and non-small cell lung cancer. The type of tumor and stage of disease helps to create personalized cancer treatments for lung cancer patients. Lung cancer differs according to the cell type in which they arise. Standard care prescribed for cancer patients continue to work for years irrespective of the primary site and histology of tumor. Over the period of time, personalized lung cancer care has become essential. It refers to selection of patients for specific treatment depending on the presence of specific biomarkers. Personalized treatment offers the highest changes of deriving benefits. The treatment may be used as standalone measures but some may be used in combination with others.

The standard care for lung cancer patients included combining chemotherapy with a platinum compound with a third-generation drug. The treatment process is constantly changing to improve patient outcomes. The ongoing trails aim to enhance treatment endurance by incorporating multiple targeted therapies. Personalized treatment is an innovative method to provide medical care that suits the unique attributes of every individual. Such therapies are more effective and more likely to produce positive results.

This personalized approach to lung cancer is more effective than standard care. It follows therapies and treatment plan depending on the type of tumor, size of tumor, age of person, body’s response to treatment and more. Each patient responds differently to the same therapy and has different psychological and mental health aspects. It is important to consider those and increasing the chances of effectiveness to the treatment. This also improves the overall survival rates.
