These foods are the one that escalate cancer and increase the risk of getting it. The main cause of lung cancer remains smoking only but research suggests that foods or certain ingredients can also be a problem.
Imbibing alcohol in high amounts increases the risk of developing lung cancer among the people. As alcohol consumption and smoking behavior are correlated, the possible role of alcohol and its joint effect with smoking is high. One should minimize the intake of alcohol and avoid negative health consequences.
The consumption of saturated fat intake increases the risk of lung cancer in smokers. A diet low in saturated fat is always healthy. In some studies, it was found that the ones who ate most saturated fats had higher risk of lung cancer than those who ate the least. One should try to get most of the fat required for the body from healthy sources.
Excessive intake of oily foods should be avoided by lung cancer patient. Also, one should avoid excessive vitamin supplements as they act as antioxidants and can interfere with chemotherapy. Researchers also suggest limiting the consumption of salt and sugar.
Red and Processed Meat
During lung cancer treatment, patients should not take red meat and processed meats. Also, the deep-fried and barbecued meats should also be avoided. Such foods subject animal protein to high temperatures and create carcinogenic byproducts. Limit the intake of red meat to less than three ounces a day.
In a study, it was found that people exposed to arsenic had compromised lung function as compared to those who are not. It is a naturally occurring element and is commonly found in small quantities in products like rice, poultry, apple juice etc.
